Pay it Forward 2022 Round Up

Our Pay It Forward Christmas Campaign has come to an end, and we at Northern Stage would like to say a massive thank you to all of the people who generously donated to the appeal.

Your gift has helped us to share the magic of theatre, by buying a ticket to our Christmas show for a child who wouldn’t otherwise be able to visit. For many children, a Christmas show is their first introduction to theatre. We know young people carry those memories with them for many years and for some it has a truly transformative effect on their lives.

We would like to thank each and every one of our audience members who have shown their generosity by donating in person and online, we truly appreciate all of your contributions.

Thank you to our larger donors, who have shown continued support of this annual campaign, by donating money again this year to ensure that we can extend the opportunity to more children: Watsons Timber Ltd, Ward Hadaway, R. W. Mann Trust, and the Barbour Foundation.

We held a raffle to raise money for the campaign at one of our Supporter events, with prizes donated by local businesses: Blackfriars, Royal Station Hotel, Doddington Dairy, Thirsty Moose Brewing Co., and LWC.

This year, we raised £5,253 for our Pay It Forward Christmas Campaign, which allowed us to provide 595 children and young people with free tickets to our Christmas show, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. It was wonderful to welcome these groups into the theatre, and we were thrilled to hear how much they enjoyed their experiences.

Moving forward, Northern Stage will be running a Pay It Forward Campaign throughout the year, which will enable us to provide free and subsidised tickets to local community groups of varying ages, as well as young people. This will differ from our Pay It Forward Christmas Campaign, which will be a drive specifically to allow young people to see our Christmas shows. We’ve received extremely positive feedback from the beneficiaries of our festive appeal and look forward to widening this impact by introducing The Pay It Forward (General) fund.

If you would like to contribute to our work with the local community on a more regular basis, please consider becoming a Supporter of Northern Stage. By making an annual donation to Northern Stage, you too can help provide opportunities for people from all walks of life to take part and enjoy theatre.
